A tremendous academic achievement for Bethlehem Central High School, where six seniors have been named 2027 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists! 🎉📚

🏆 Congratulations to BCHS National Merit Semifinalists:

⭐ Elliot Chapman
⭐ Anna Chrapowitzky
⭐ Andrew Faller
⭐ Bhargava Janga
⭐ John (Jack) Keating
⭐ Hasni Rajulu

These six Eagles are among approximately 16,000 semifinalists nationwide — representing less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors. More than 1.2 million students took the qualifying PSAT/NMSQT during their junior year in 2025.

The BCHS semifinalists can now continue in the competition for more than $24 million in National Merit Scholarships, which are expected to be awarded in spring 2027. 🎓💰

But the academic recognition doesn't stop there! 👏

Bethlehem Central also announced 18 seniors as National Merit Commended Students, placing them among the top 50,000 students nationwide based on their performance on the 2025 qualifying exam:

The Bethlehem Central Girls Varsity Soccer Team continues to make its presence felt on the defensive end! 💪⚽

The Lady Eagles rolled to a 4-0 victory over Colonie Central on Saturday, recording their third consecutive shutout. 🧱🚫🥅

With the win, Bethlehem improves to 3-1 on the season and has now won three straight road games. Even more impressive, the Eagles' defense has not allowed a single goal during that three-game winning streak! 👏🦅

Bethlehem and the Albany Falcons finished in a 1-1 draw on Thursday, marking the Eagles' first tie of the season.

The result moves Bethlehem Central to an impressive 4-0-1 record, keeping the Eagles unbeaten through their first five matches! 👏🔥

Sometimes one goal is all you need! The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Ravens needed extra time Thursday, but a strong defensive effort helped RCS secure a 1-0 shutout victory over La Salle Institute. ⚽👏

The win continues an impressive run for the Ravens against the Cadets. The RCS girls varsity soccer team has now won four straight meetings against La Salle — and hasn't surrendered a goal in any of them! 💪🧱

Recent results:

Here’s today’s challenge:

28 ÷ 7 × 8

This one is a great reminder about an important part of PEMDAS that sometimes trips people up!

We have division and multiplication.

Many people think multiplication must always come before division because the M appears before the D in PEMDAS.

🚨 But that's not the rule!

Multiplication and division have equal priority, so when both appear, work from LEFT to RIGHT.

Step 1: Start on the left

28 ÷ 7 = 4

Now the expression becomes:

4 × 8

Step 2: Multiply

4 × 8 = 32

💡 Teaching Tip: Think of PEMDAS as:

P — Parentheses
E — Exponents
MD — Multiplication & Division, left to right
AS — Addition & Subtraction, left to right

So don't automatically multiply first just because you see a multiplication sign. Position matters when the operations have equal priority!
