After capturing the Mid-Atlantic Cal Ripken Regional Championship, the Tri-Village All-Stars have earned an opportunity few young athletes ever experience: playing for a championship at the Cal Ripken World Series! 🏆
The team is headed to Marlton, New Jersey, where they'll compete in the 8-year-old Player Pitch Division from August 17-23.
⚾ FROM LOCAL BALLFIELDS TO THE WORLD SERIES
Made up of incoming third- and fourth-graders, these young players have put in the work all summer to reach this stage.
But while winning is exciting, the coaching staff is keeping something even more important at the center of the experience — having fun, learning the game and creating memories together. ❤️

ONE YEAR OF FAITH, CULTURE & COMMUNITY: ALBANY SANATANI MANDIR CELEBRATES FIRST ANNIVERSARY!
🛕🎉 ONE YEAR OF FAITH, CULTURE & COMMUNITY: ALBANY SANATANI MANDIR CELEBRATES FIRST ANNIVERSARY! ❤️
North Bethlehem NY — A growing Capital Region faith community is celebrating an important milestone as Albany Sanatani Mandir marks its first anniversary.
Located at 387 Krumkill Road , Albany Sanatani Mandir is the Capital Region's first Bengali Hindu temple and has quickly become an important gathering place for Bengali families throughout the area. 🙏
The temple opened in a renovated former church building, providing a dedicated space where members can worship, celebrate Hindu traditions, speak Bengali and share their culture with future generations.
📈 And the community is growing!
Temple leadership reports that attendance has increased significantly during its first year. Services that initially attracted roughly 70 to 80 people can now draw around 200 attendees.
But the temple has become much more than a place for religious services.
📚 An educational program is helping approximately 25 young people learn the Bengali language and maintain connections to their family's cultural heritage.
🎊 The building's lower level provides gathering space for Hindu holidays, weddings and other community celebrations.
🙏 The temple is also open daily for individual prayer.
Earlier this year, Albany Sanatani Mandir received nonprofit status, another milestone that leaders hope will help support future plans, including permanent religious statues, a dedicated priest and eventually additional renovations and expansion.
🎉 A CELEBRATION OPEN TO EVERYONE
The temple's first-anniversary celebration was held over the weekend, with the festivities designed not only for members but also as an opportunity for the greater Capital Region community to learn more about Hinduism and Bengali traditions.
The celebration was free and open to the public and included community guests and prashad, sacred food offered and shared as part of Hindu religious tradition.
🌎 As the Capital Region continues to grow and become home to people from many cultures and traditions, places like Albany Sanatani Mandir add another important thread to the fabric of our greater community.
👏 Congratulations to Albany Sanatani Mandir and its members on their first anniversary! Here's to many more years of faith, culture, education and community.

DELMAR MAN ARRESTED AFTER STOLEN VEHICLE PURSUIT ON I-87

🚨🚔 DELMAR MAN ARRESTED AFTER STOLEN VEHICLE PURSUIT ON I-87
CLIFTON PARK — A 54-year-old Delmar man is facing multiple charges after New York State Police say a stolen vehicle was spotted on Interstate 87, leading troopers on an early-morning pursuit before eventually stopping in Clifton Park.
According to New York State Police, Daniel N. Reed, 54, of Delmar, was arrested on August 6 after troopers located a vehicle that had reportedly been stolen from Bolton several hours earlier.
🚗 Police say the incident unfolded around 1:02 a.m. when troopers observed the vehicle traveling southbound on I-87 in Clifton Park.
Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but according to police, the driver failed to comply and continued traveling, prompting a pursuit.
The vehicle eventually:
➡️ Exited I-87 at Exit 8
➡️ Traveled onto Crescent Road
➡️ Continued to Riverview Road
➡️ Came to a stop, where Reed was taken into custody
Police said the stolen vehicle was recovered and subsequently returned to its owner.
Reed was charged with offenses including:
🔹 Third-degree criminal possession of stolen property
🔹 Second-degree reckless endangerment
🔹 Third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle
Following processing at State Police Clifton Park, Reed was arraigned in Clifton Park Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail, according to State Police.
⚖️ As with all criminal cases, charges are accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

DELAWARE AVE. CONSTRUCTION ALERT: FINAL MAJOR ROADWORK PHASE BEGINS THIS WEEK!

🚧🛣️ DELAWARE AVE. CONSTRUCTION ALERT: FINAL MAJOR ROADWORK PHASE BEGINS THIS WEEK!
DELMAR/ELSMERE — Drivers, residents and businesses along Delaware Avenue should prepare for another busy construction week as crews begin the final major roadway reconstruction activity of the Complete Streets project. 🚜⚠️
Beginning Monday, August 17, crews will return to Delaware Avenue for the final round of milling and binder paving, completing the remaining roadway reconstruction between Bedell Avenue and the Elsmere intersection.
While milling and paving can create some of the biggest traffic disruptions, this phase is expected to move relatively quickly.
⏰ EXTENDED WORK HOURS
Crews are expected to work approximately 6:00 AM–6:00 PM, with setup beginning before 6 AM and cleanup potentially continuing into the evening.
📅 THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE
🔸 Days 1–2: Milling from Bedell Avenue to Elsmere
🔸 Days 3–4: Binder paving and temporary striping
🌧️ Work is planned for Monday through Thursday, with Friday reserved as a rain day.
Temporary striping may continue later into the evening following paving operations.
🚗 WHAT DRIVERS SHOULD EXPECT
Because milling and paving moves through the corridor one lane at a time, traffic patterns will shift as work progresses.
During the morning commute, crews generally plan to maintain two outbound lanes and one inbound lane.
During the evening commute, the configuration is expected to switch to two inbound lanes and one outbound lane.
Throughout the week, motorists should be prepared for:
⚠️ Slower traffic and delays
🚧 One or more lane closures
👷 Flaggers directing vehicles
🏪 Temporary delays accessing businesses and side streets
🔊 Construction noise and heavy equipment
And don't worry if Delaware Avenue still looks unfinished when this week's paving is done — there's another important step coming.
🌙 FINAL PAVING: AUGUST 26–27
The final smooth top course and permanent pavement striping are scheduled to take place overnight August 26–27.
After months of construction, Delaware Avenue is moving closer to the finish line. 🙌🛣️
Please give yourself some extra travel time this week, slow down through the work zone and watch carefully for workers, flaggers and changing traffic patterns.
📣 LOCAL QUESTION: Are you looking forward to seeing the finished Delaware Avenue Complete Streets project?

MONDAY MORNING
MATH PUZZLER SOLVED!

🧮☕ MONDAY MORNING MATH PUZZLER — CAN YOU GET IT RIGHT?
Happy Monday! 🌞 Today’s puzzler looks a little intimidating because of that factorial symbol (!) — but once you know the rules, it comes together quickly.
Today’s problem:
21 ÷ 7 + 3 × 3!
The key is knowing the order of operations — and remembering that a factorial gets handled first.
✏️ Step 1: Solve the factorial
3! means:
3 × 2 × 1 = 6
So our problem becomes:
21 ÷ 7 + 3 × 6
✏️ Step 2: Division and multiplication
Multiplication and division are done before addition, working left to right:
21 ÷ 7 = 3
3 × 6 = 18
Now we have:
3 + 18
🎯 Step 3: Add
3 + 18 = 21
✅ FINAL ANSWER: 21
💡 THE TEACHING TIP: Remember PEMDAS:
P — Parentheses
E — Exponents (and factorials)
M/D — Multiplication & Division, left to right
A/S — Addition & Subtraction, left to right
That little ! is the trick in today's puzzle. In mathematics, 3! does NOT mean "3!" with excitement 😂 — it means 3 factorial.
🧠 Did you get 21 before checking the answer? Let us know below — and don't give it away too quickly for everyone else! 👇😎
