🚨⚖️ DELMAR WOMAN RECEIVES MAXIMUM PRISON SENTENCE IN FATAL WRONG-WAY CRASH ⚖️🚨

A Delmar woman has been sentenced to state prison following a tragic wrong-way crash on the New York State Thruway that claimed the life of a 26-year-old New Hampshire man.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office announced that 60-year-old Veronica Armbruster of Delmar was sentenced on June 4 to serve 2 years and 4 months to 7 years in state prison after pleading guilty to second-degree vehicular manslaughter earlier this year.

According to prosecutors, on February 20, 2025, Armbruster was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-90 in the Town of Mohawk when her vehicle collided head-on with a car driven by Cole Sevigny, 26, of Hudson, New Hampshire.

Both drivers suffered serious injuries in the crash. Tragically, Sevigny later died from his injuries at Saint Mary’s Hospital.

Court records indicate Armbruster admitted she was driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.16%, twice New York State’s legal limit, at the time of the crash.

Montgomery County District Attorney Christina Pearson called the case a "stark reminder of the devastating consequences of impaired driving" and expressed condolences to Sevigny’s family and loved ones.

Montgomery County Judge Tatiana Coffinger imposed the maximum sentence allowed for the manslaughter charge. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Amanda Nellis, with the investigation conducted by the New York State Police.

A hometown soccer star returned to the Capital Region this week, and local fans couldn't wait to welcome her back! ❤️🤍💙

🎉 Bethlehem native Claire Hutton, one of the brightest young stars on the United States Women's National Team, greeted fans Thursday at Cardona's Market in Latham while helping launch a special new sandwich — "The Hutton" — with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Albany Soccer Club.

⚽ Hutton's visit also helped kick off a youth soccer equipment drive running through Sunday at Cardona's locations.

At just 20 years old, Claire is already making history:

🏆 Youngest player to captain the U.S. Women's National Team in January
🏆 Youngest player to start an international match as captain since 2001
🏆 Rising star representing Bethlehem and the Capital Region on the world stage

Reflecting on her remarkable journey, Hutton credited her family, friends, coaches, teammates, and hometown supporters for helping make her dreams a reality.

💬 "Returning home always grounds me and lets me realize that I'm here because of the people around me," Hutton shared.

She also spoke about the excitement surrounding international soccer and the growing momentum of the sport across the country.
