TUESDAY UPDATE: SERIOUS HEAD-ON CRASH AT DELAWARE AVE. & FISHER BLVD. UNDER INVESTIGATION

🚨 TUESDAY UPDATE: SERIOUS HEAD-ON CRASH AT DELAWARE AVE. & FISHER BLVD. UNDER INVESTIGATION 🚗⚠️
BETHLEHEM — We have an update on the serious crash that shut down the Delaware Avenue and Fisher Boulevard intersection for several hours Monday morning.
The crash occurred Monday morning, with the intersection closed beginning around 7:30 a.m. while emergency crews responded and authorities investigated. The roadway was reopened shortly before 2 p.m. Monday.
According to an update from Bethlehem Police, officers determined that a passenger vehicle traveling westbound on Delaware Avenue crossed into the opposing lane, resulting in a head-on collision with an eastbound vehicle.
🚑 One of the drivers was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Police say impairment is not currently believed to have been a factor in the crash. The circumstances that caused the westbound vehicle to enter the opposite lane remain under investigation.
🙏 Our thoughts are with those involved, particularly the injured driver and their family, and we thank the Bethlehem Police Department, emergency medical personnel, firefighters and other first responders who worked at the scene.
A special thank-you also goes to one of our Bethlehem Local News Spotters — Albany Rentals Capital City — for helping alert the community to the accident and road closure Monday morning. 📸👏

UALBANY WELCOMES ONE OF ITS BIGGEST FRESHMAN CLASSES EVER — AND THE CAPITAL REGION COULD FEEL THE IMPACT!

🎓🐾 UALBANY WELCOMES ONE OF ITS BIGGEST FRESHMAN CLASSES EVER — AND THE CAPITAL REGION COULD FEEL THE IMPACT! 💜💛
A new school year is getting underway at the University at Albany, and this fall’s incoming class is a big one! 📚🎉
Students began returning to campus last week, with UAlbany welcoming a Class of 2030 numbering more than 3,500 freshmen — one of the largest incoming classes in university history.
📈 According to the university, first-year enrollment is up approximately 20%, with the new class selected from a pool of more than 36,000 applicants.
🌎 And it’s a diverse group of Great Danes arriving in the Capital Region. Students are coming from New York City, the Capital District, Long Island, 40 states and 35 countries.
UAlbany now has more than 18,000 students overall, and the growth isn’t limited to enrollment. The university says it is also adding 75 new faculty members this fall.
🏘️ WHY THIS MATTERS TO BETHLEHEM & OUR NEIGHBORS
While UAlbany’s main campus sits just outside Bethlehem, a university of more than 18,000 students is an important part of the broader economy and community we share.
More students and faculty can mean more customers for local restaurants, stores, entertainment venues and service businesses throughout the Capital Region. 🍕☕️🛍️ It also brings thousands of young people into our area who may eventually pursue internships, careers and permanent homes here.
For Bethlehem residents, there’s another potentially important development to watch. UAlbany has announced a guaranteed-admission program beginning with Albany High School students and has indicated plans to expand the concept to other high schools in the future. 🎓
Whether that eventually includes additional Capital Region districts remains to be seen, but expanding pathways between local high schools and UAlbany could create new opportunities for area students.
From 3,500+ incoming freshmen to 75 new faculty members, UAlbany's growth is another reminder that what happens at one of our region's largest institutions can have ripple effects well beyond campus. 💜💛
Welcome to the Capital Region, Class of 2030! 👋🎓
📲 What do you think? Is UAlbany's continued growth good news for the Capital Region and its local communities?

🏆⚾ WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS COME HOME! TRI-VILLAGE 8U MAKES BETHLEHEM BASEBALL HISTORY! 🎉🇺🇸
GLENMONT — What a summer. What a team. What a moment for the entire Bethlehem community! 🧡⚾
The Tri-Village 8U All-Stars are Cal Ripken Baseball World Series Champions, completing an incredible championship journey with a 3-2 victory over Warrington, Pennsylvania, in Marlton, New Jersey! 🏆
The win marks the first Cal Ripken World Series championship in Tri-Village history — and Sunday, the young champions returned home to Glenmont to plenty of smiles, hugs, cheers and red, white and blue confetti. 🎊🇺🇸
🏆 FROM NEW YORK CHAMPS TO WORLD CHAMPS!
This remarkable run didn't begin at the World Series.
After assembling its all-star team, Tri-Village first captured the New York State Championship, defeating North Colonie in the title game. The team then won the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship in Queensbury, earning its ticket to the World Series.
Once in Marlton, Tri-Village kept rolling:
⚾ Tri-Village 12, Latin America 3
⚾ Tri-Village 15, Maple Shade 0
⚾ Tri-Village 7, Bonaire 5
⚾ Tri-Village 9, Springfield 7
⚾ Tri-Village 3, Spring-Ford 3
🏆 WORLD SERIES FINAL: Tri-Village 3, Warrington 2
Through heat, humidity, close games and moments when they found themselves behind, these 8-year-olds kept battling. Their season-long mindset was simple: they weren't finished yet.
And they certainly weren't. 💪⚾🔥
🌟 A WORLD SERIES MVP!
Adding another special accomplishment to the week, Connor Stehr was named tournament MVP for his performance during the World Series. 🏅👏
But perhaps even more impressive than any individual award was the way these players competed together — as teammates and friends representing Glenmont, Delmar and the entire Tri-Village community.
❤️ A COMMUNITY BEHIND ITS KIDS
As Tri-Village advanced deeper into tournament play, community support continued to grow. More friends, neighbors and families began following the games and cheering on a group of local kids accomplishing something extraordinary.
And that support could have an impact long after this championship trophy is placed on the shelf.
Young baseball players throughout Bethlehem now have hometown champions to look up to — older siblings, friends and kids they may recognize from school who can show them just how far youth baseball can take them.
That's how traditions are built. That's how the next generation gets inspired. ⚾❤️
From New York State Champions ➡️ Mid-Atlantic Regional Champions ➡️ CAL RIPKEN WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS, these young athletes created a summer they — and our community — won't soon forget.
👏 Congratulations to every player, coach, parent, family member, volunteer and supporter who helped make this historic run possible.
🏆⚾ WAY TO GO, TRI-VILLAGE 8U!
YOU BROUGHT A WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP HOME TO BETHLEHEM! 🎉🏆🧡

TUESDAY MORNING
MATH PUZZLER SOLVED!

🧠✏️ TUESDAY MORNING MATH PUZZLER! ➕✖️
Good morning, math fans! ☕️ Today’s puzzler looks simple:
5 + 6 × 3 = ?
But remember — we don't automatically work from left to right! The key is the Order of Operations (PEMDAS).
P – Parentheses
E – Exponents
M/D – Multiplication & Division, left to right
A/S – Addition & Subtraction, left to right
✏️ STEP 1: Multiplication comes before addition
6 × 3 = 18
So now the problem becomes:
5 + 18
✏️ STEP 2: Add
5 + 18 = 23
🎯 FINAL ANSWER: 23 ✅
⚠️ The common trap: If you calculate 5 + 6 = 11 first and then multiply 11 × 3, you'll get 33 — but that's not correct because multiplication must be completed before addition.
💡 Teaching Tip: If the problem were written (5 + 6) × 3, THEN the parentheses would tell us to add first, and the answer would be 33.
So for today's puzzler...
🏆 23 IS THE ANSWER!
Did you get 23, or did today's puzzle catch you with 33? 😄 Drop your answer in the comments and share it with someone who loves a good morning brain teaser!
