It may be time to bring in the plants and prepare for a chilly night! 🪴🍂

The National Weather Service in Albany says colder temperatures tonight could lead to areas of frost across eastern New York, including portions of the Hudson Valley where the growing season is still underway.

🌡️ WHAT TO EXPECT TONIGHT

After a mostly sunny, breezy and cooler-than-normal Tuesday, skies are expected to remain mostly clear as winds become light or calm.

Those conditions will allow temperatures to drop quickly after sunset, with many valley locations expected to fall into the low to mid-30s overnight.

❄️ That means conditions could be favorable for frost formation across much of the region.

🌱 HAVE PLANTS STILL OUTSIDE?

Tonight may be a good night to:

🪴 Bring sensitive potted plants indoors
🌼 Cover vulnerable flowers and garden plants
🥕 Protect any remaining cold-sensitive vegetables
🐾 Remember that pets may notice the colder temperatures, too!

The good news? Temperatures are expected to moderate back toward more typical October levels later this week, although some areas could also see occasional light rain showers.

🍂 Fall is definitely making itself known around Bethlehem!

📣 SHARE this with your gardening friends and neighbors who may still have plants outside!

Today's challenge is:

7 + 3 × 6 − 4 = ?

This is another great test of the order of operations! Remember PEMDAS:

P – Parentheses
E – Exponents
M/D – Multiplication & Division
A/S – Addition & Subtraction

Step 1 — Do the multiplication first:

3 × 6 = 18

Now the expression becomes:

7 + 18 − 4

Step 2 — Addition and subtraction have the same priority, so work LEFT TO RIGHT:

7 + 18 = 25

Then:

25 − 4 = 21

⚠️ THE COMMON MISTAKE

If you simply work from left to right from the beginning:

7 + 3 = 10
10 × 6 = 60
60 − 4 = 56 ❌

That ignores the order of operations. Multiplication must be completed before addition and subtraction.

So if you answered 21, you paid attention in math class! 🎉👏🧠

👇 Did you get 21 on your first try? Drop your answer in the comments — but don't spoil the steps for everyone else! 😄
