Let’s Have an Honest Conversation About Breasts

Breasts are among the most talked about and medically researched parts of the human body, yet many of us are embarrassed to discuss our breast health openly.

THE 2042 WINTER OLYMPICS IN NEW YORK? COULD THE CAPITAL REGION & BETHLEHEM AREA BENEFIT FROM AN OLYMPIC-SIZED OPPORTUNITY?

🏅❄️🏔️ THE 2042 WINTER OLYMPICS IN NEW YORK? COULD THE CAPITAL REGION & BETHLEHEM AREA BENEFIT FROM AN OLYMPIC-SIZED OPPORTUNITY? 🇺🇸🔥

BETHLEHEM, NY — Imagine the Winter Olympics returning to New York State, bringing athletes, visitors and international attention to Upstate New York!

That possibility is now being explored as Governor Kathy Hochul pushes for a joint New York City–Lake Placid bid to host the 2042 Winter Olympic Games! 🏆

And while Bethlehem and the Capital Region are not currently proposed Olympic competition sites, hosting the Games in New York could create exciting opportunities for communities throughout our region.

🏔️ NEW YORK'S OLYMPIC DREAM!

According to an October 22 Times Union report, Governor Hochul has encouraged a 90-member exploratory committee to move forward with evaluating a potential bid that would split Olympic events between:

🏙️ New York City

❄️ Lake Placid and the Adirondack region

Lake Placid has already hosted the Winter Olympics twice:

🥇 1932 Winter Olympics

🥇 1980 Winter Olympics — Home of the legendary Miracle on Ice!

A successful 2042 bid would bring the Winter Games back to New York for a third time.

🌎 WHY COULD THIS MATTER TO BETHLEHEM & THE CAPITAL REGION?

Although the proposed Olympic venues would be concentrated in New York City and the Adirondacks, the Capital Region could potentially benefit from increased tourism and economic activity.

Here are some possibilities worth considering!

🏨 1. MORE VISITORS FOR LOCAL HOTELS & BUSINESSES!

With Albany situated between New York City and Lake Placid, the Capital Region could serve as a convenient stopping point for Olympic travelers.

That could mean additional customers for:

🍽️ Restaurants and cafés

🏨 Hotels and lodging

🛍️ Local shops and retailers

⛽ Gas stations and travel services

Businesses throughout Bethlehem, Glenmont, Delmar, Slingerlands and neighboring communities could potentially share in that activity.

🚆 2. TRANSPORTATION & INFRASTRUCTURE OPPORTUNITIES!

A major international sporting event could increase interest in improving transportation connections between New York City, Albany and the Adirondacks.

Potential areas of discussion include:

🚉 Passenger rail service

🚌 Regional transportation

✈️ Albany International Airport connections

🚗 Roadway and visitor infrastructure

Any actual improvements would depend on future planning, funding and transportation decisions.

💼 3. POTENTIAL JOBS & ECONOMIC ACTIVITY!

Hosting the Olympics requires extensive planning, construction, hospitality services, transportation and event operations.

Capital Region businesses could potentially compete for contracts or provide services related to the Games.

Opportunities might extend to local contractors, suppliers, technology companies and tourism businesses.

⛷️ 4. GREATER INTEREST IN WINTER SPORTS!

An Olympics in Upstate New York could inspire a new generation of young athletes!

Imagine the excitement for students and families throughout:

🦅 Bethlehem Central

💚💛 Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk

🐦‍⬛ Voorheesville

From skiing and skating to hockey and other winter sports, Olympic excitement could encourage more young people to get involved.

🌲 5. A TOURISM BOOST FOR UPSTATE NEW YORK!

International attention on Lake Placid and the Adirondacks could also introduce visitors to other Upstate destinations.

The Capital Region offers historic attractions, restaurants, outdoor recreation and convenient access to surrounding communities.

That visibility could create opportunities for regional tourism promotion well beyond the Olympic venues.

🏛️ BUT THERE ARE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS TO ANSWER!

A New York Olympic bid is still in the exploratory stage.

The committee must consider major issues, including:

💰 The cost to taxpayers

🏗️ Whether existing facilities can accommodate the Games

🚆 Transportation between distant venues

🌎 Environmental impacts

🏨 Lodging and visitor capacity

📊 Whether projected economic benefits would justify the investment

No Olympic hosting decision has been made, and no specific economic benefits for Bethlehem or the Capital Region have been established.

🏅 A $2.5 MILLION TRIBUTE TO OLYMPIC HISTORY!

Governor Hochul also announced plans for $2.5 million in state funding toward a permanent tribute in Lake Placid honoring the 1980 U.S. Olympic men's hockey team and five-time gold medalist Eric Heiden.

The monument would be located outside the Herb Brooks Arena at the Olympic Center.

🇺🇸 COULD NEW YORK BRING THE OLYMPIC FLAME HOME AGAIN?

The 2042 Winter Olympics are still 16 years away, and New York would need to develop a successful bid and secure approval from the International Olympic Committee.

But the discussion raises an interesting question for communities across Upstate New York:

Could an Olympic Games centered on Lake Placid and New York City create lasting opportunities for the Capital Region?

💬 BETHLEHEM AREA — WE WANT YOUR OPINION!

🏅 Would you support New York hosting the 2042 Winter Olympics?

🏨 Do you think Bethlehem-area businesses could benefit?

💰 Would the potential economic opportunities justify the public investment?

❄️ Would you travel to Lake Placid to attend Olympic events?

🎉🍻🏡 THREE HOMETOWN FRIENDS, ONE BIG DREAM! TAP20 BRINGS NEW LIFE, FOOD & FUN TO DELMAR! 🍔🎶

DELMAR, NY — There's a new gathering place in town, and this one has a special Bethlehem connection! ❤️

TAP20, Delmar's newest food, beverage and entertainment destination, officially celebrated its grand opening on October 10, 2026, at the former Real McCoy location on Hallwood Road.

But what makes this new business particularly special?

👉 It's owned by three lifelong Bethlehem residents who have been friends since they were 10 years old! 🎉

🏡 BETHLEHEM ROOTS RUN DEEP!

Meet the owners:

👨‍💼 Matt Young

👨‍💼 Jeff Young

👨‍💼 Evan Marsh

All three are Bethlehem Central High School graduates, longtime friends and local business owners.

The Young brothers operate a landscaping business, while Marsh owns a physical therapy practice.

When the Real McCoy closed, the friends saw an opportunity to create something new for the community they grew up in.

Their vision? A welcoming neighborhood gathering place where friends, families and local organizations can come together! ❤️

🎯 MORE THAN JUST A PLACE TO GRAB A DRINK!

Tap20 has transformed part of its outdoor space into a family-friendly recreation area featuring:

🌿 A new turf-covered gathering space

🎯 Cornhole

🧩 Giant Jenga

🎲 Giant Connect 4

⛺ Picnic tables, tents and heaters

🐶 Dogs are welcome, too!

The goal is to provide a comfortable place where parents can relax while children enjoy outdoor games.

🍻 CRAFT BEER, COCKTAILS & MOCKTAILS!

Tap20 features:

🍺 12 rotating craft beer taps

🍹 Seasonal and specialty cocktails

🍎 Creative nonalcoholic mocktails

Among the specialty drinks:

🥃 Old Delmar Fashioned — A locally inspired twist featuring honey sage bourbon, maple syrup and orange bitters.

🍓 Basil Berry Smash — A refreshing combination of tequila, blackberries, basil and lemonade.

🍎 Apple Maple Fizz — A seasonal nonalcoholic option.

☕ Brewtus After Dark — A coffee-inspired cocktail featuring cold brew from neighboring Brewtus Roasting.

🤝 LOCAL BUSINESSES SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES!

One of the most exciting parts of Tap20's business model is its commitment to working with other Delmar establishments!

🍔 Stacked Grill, located near Delmar's Four Corners, has partnered with Tap20 to offer customers additional food options.

Guests can order directly through Tap20, and Stacked Grill prepares and delivers the food during its regular business hours.

☕ Brewtus Roasting is also part of the collaboration, supplying cold brew for a signature cocktail.

🚚 Rotating food trucks will bring even more variety to the menu!

That's the kind of small-business teamwork we love seeing in Bethlehem! 👏❤️

🎶 EVENTS, ENTERTAINMENT & COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS!

Tap20 plans to offer:

🧠 Trivia nights

🏈 Football games on large screens

🎃 Seasonal celebrations

🎉 Private parties and community gatherings

🎶 Special events and entertainment

The owners also hope to welcome cyclists and walkers traveling along the nearby Albany County Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail.

🚴‍♀️ A little exercise followed by a stop at a neighborhood gathering place sounds like a pretty good combination!

🏘️ A WELCOME ADDITION TO DELMAR!

With the closures of longtime neighborhood establishments, Tap20's opening brings another opportunity for residents to gather, socialize and support local businesses.

Bethlehem town economic development officials have welcomed the new venture and its collaborative approach.

For Matt Young, Jeff Young and Evan Marsh, Tap20 represents more than a business investment.

It's an opportunity to give something back to the community where their friendship began.

❤️ BETHLEHEM LOCAL NEWS WELCOMES TAP20 TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD!
