What a fantastic community turnout! Hundreds of Bethlehem-area residents gathered Sunday evening at Old Toll Gate Ice Cream in Slingerlands to enjoy a special pop-up event featuring the colorful Emack & Bolio's Ice Cream Truck.

Families, friends, neighbors, cyclists, and walkers from the Albany County Rail Trail all came together to celebrate one of summer's favorite traditions—sharing great ice cream and great company! 🍦🚴🚶

The event was filled with smiling faces, delicious frozen treats, and plenty of community spirit, making it another memorable summer gathering in Bethlehem.

❤️ Why This Matters

Events like these remind us what makes our community so special. Local businesses, beautiful summer weather, and neighbors coming together create the kind of memories that make Bethlehem feel like home.

And while everyone enjoyed the sweet treats, there was also plenty of excitement and conversation about the future of the historic Toll Gate property, as many residents continue to wonder who will eventually become its next permanent home.

Bethlehem-area shoppers who recently purchased prepared foods or fresh produce from Hannaford should take a few minutes to check their refrigerators and freezers.

Hannaford has voluntarily recalled several deli and produce items after being notified that a supplier of jalapeños initiated a recall due to the potential for Salmonella contamination.

Visitors to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., are noticing more than just construction crews—they're also seeing signs explaining why repairs are underway and pointing to years of deferred maintenance.

The National Park Service has partially refilled the Reflecting Pool so crews can flush the underground piping system, a maintenance project that officials say is being performed for the first time in more than a decade.

According to signs posted around the site, many of the pool's water supply ports had become clogged over the years, requiring extensive cleaning. Visitors are also being advised that the water may temporarily appear discolored while sediment and buildup are flushed from the system.

The repair effort follows several highly publicized challenges at the Reflecting Pool in recent months, including algae growth, cloudy water, and issues involving a newly installed blue liner that did not perform as expected.

The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is one of America's most recognizable landmarks, welcoming millions of visitors every year and serving as the backdrop for national celebrations, presidential events, and historic gatherings.

The ongoing work highlights the importance—and cost—of maintaining aging public infrastructure, even at some of the nation's most iconic sites.

While the informational signs reference previous administrations as contributing to years of deferred maintenance, the long-term condition of the Reflecting Pool has developed over multiple administrations spanning many years.

🚧 Repair work is expected to continue as crews work to restore the Reflecting Pool to the reflective appearance visitors expect.

Families have a new reason to get outside and play! ☀️

The Town of Bethlehem has announced that the North Bethlehem Playground is now officially open and ready to welcome children and families back for fun and recreation.

While the playground is open for use, the Town noted that a few finishing touches are still on the way, including:

🚧 Restoration of the former playground area
♿ Completion of the new ADA-accessible pathway
🅿️ Final paving of the parking lot

Those improvements are expected to be completed soon, but the playground and park are now open for everyone to enjoy!

Parks and playgrounds are an important part of our community, providing safe places for children to play, families to gather, neighbors to connect, and everyone to enjoy the outdoors. The reopening of the North Bethlehem Playground is another investment in making Bethlehem an even better place to live.
