πŸš¨πŸ“° DELMAR WOMAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING EARLY MORNING INCIDENT IN SARATOGA COUNTY πŸš”βš–οΈ

A Delmar woman was arrested early Sunday morning following an incident in Greenfield that resulted in multiple criminal charges, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say deputies responded to a residence on Annacrest Drive at approximately 1:08 a.m. Sunday and, following an investigation, arrested Ashley Close, 32, of Delmar.

Close has been charged with:

πŸ”Ή Assault in the Second Degree
πŸ”Ή Criminal Contempt in the First Degree
πŸ”Ή Menacing in the Second Degree
πŸ”Ή Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree
πŸ”Ή Two Counts of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree

According to investigators, Close allegedly threw a ceramic piggy bank that struck another individual in the head, causing pain and swelling. Authorities also allege that she violated an existing order of protection.

The Sheriff's Office further alleges that Close swung a croquet mallet at the victim, placing them in fear of physical injury, and intentionally damaged a necklace and lamp belonging to the victim.

Close was arraigned in Greenfield Town Court and released on her own recognizance pending future court proceedings.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Monday morning commuters in Voorheesville experienced significant delays after a truck carrying a heavy load struck the train bridge on Route 85A (Maple Avenue) near the railroad trestle. 🚧

According to officials, the crash occurred around 7:30 a.m., forcing the closure of Route 85A between Pine Street and Voorheesville Avenue while emergency crews and engineers assessed the situation.

πŸš” Traffic was detoured for several hours as crews investigated the incident.

βœ… Good News:
CSX officials reported that the railroad trestle and tracks were inspected and determined to be structurally sound.

πŸ’¬ "The bridge was inspected by our engineering team this morning, and it was cleared for operations," said CSX spokesman Austin Staton.

🏘️🚦 BETHLEHEM ZONING DEBATE DRAWS HOURS OF DISCUSSION AND DOZENS OF SPEAKERS 🚦🏘️

🏘️🚦 BETHLEHEM ZONING DEBATE DRAWS HOURS OF DISCUSSION AND DOZENS OF SPEAKERS 🚦🏘️

One of the most closely watched issues in Bethlehem this year took center stage on May 28 as the Town Board spent more than 4Β½ hours discussing proposed zoning code amendments before advancing the plan to a public hearing on June 24.

At the heart of the debate was a proposal to rezone certain Residential "A" neighborhoods to a new Low Density Residential (LDR) classification aimed at creating additional housing opportunities while balancing neighborhood character.

πŸ“‹ Highlights of the Current Proposal:
🏠 Building height limited to 30 feet and two stories
🏠 Maximum of six dwelling units per building
🏠 Maximum of seven buildings per acre
🏠 Conservation subdivisions would require 45%-60% single-family homes

The discussion revealed differing views among Town Board members regarding how Bethlehem should address housing needs while preserving the character of existing neighborhoods.

πŸ’¬ Key Topics Raised:
πŸš— Traffic congestion, particularly along Feura Bush Road
🏘️ Housing affordability and availability
🚧 Infrastructure capacity
🌳 Neighborhood character and open space preservation
πŸ“ˆ Future growth and development patterns

During a public comment session lasting more than two hours, 46 residents spoke, with the majority expressing concerns about increasing housing density. Many cited traffic congestion, road safety, and quality-of-life issues.

Others argued that Bethlehem needs more diverse housing options and that increasing housing supply is necessary to address affordability challenges facing younger families, seniors, and future residents.

One recurring question throughout the evening was whether additional housing density would actually create more affordable housing, with residents and officials offering differing viewpoints.

πŸ“… What's Next?
The proposed zoning amendments will now move to a public hearing on June 24, where residents will have another opportunity to provide feedback before any final decisions are made.

This remains one of the most significant planning discussions facing Bethlehem, with potential impacts on housing, traffic, neighborhood development, and future growth for years to come.

πŸ’¬ What are your thoughts on the proposed zoning changes? We invite respectful discussion in the comments.
