Congratulations to Bethlehem High School standout pitcher Tate Kindlon, who has officially made a verbal commitment to continue his baseball career at NCAA Division I Bryant University! ⚾💙

Kindlon earned attention from college programs across the Northeast following an outstanding junior season, highlighted by one of the most memorable performances of the Section 2 playoffs—a no-hitter in Bethlehem's 5-0 Class AA semifinal victory over Niskayuna. 👏

The hard-throwing right-hander will head into his senior season knowing his college future is secure, allowing him to focus on helping lead the Eagles back into championship contention.

Tate's commitment is the result of years of hard work, dedication, and development on the mound. Bryant University, a member of the America East Conference, recognized his talent and potential, making him one of the area's newest Division I baseball commits.

Bethlehem has built one of the Capital Region's premier baseball programs in recent years, including capturing the 2024 New York State Class AA Championship. Tate's commitment is another example of the outstanding student-athletes being developed right here in our community and serves as an inspiration to younger players throughout Bethlehem Little League, Babe Ruth, and youth baseball programs.

With much of the Eagles' roster returning next spring, Bethlehem fans will have one more opportunity to watch Tate take the mound before he begins the next chapter of his baseball journey.

Burger lovers have something new to celebrate! 🍔🥤 The Capital Region's first stand-alone Shake Shack officially opened its doors today at Stuyvesant Plaza in Guilderland, adding another popular dining option just a short drive from Bethlehem.

The new restaurant celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and is marking the occasion by donating $1 from every sandwich sold on opening day to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York—giving back to the community while welcoming its first customers.

A major financial milestone has been reached as the federal government has returned more than $100 billion in tariff refunds to U.S. businesses after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a series of import tariffs.

In total, about $166 billion is expected to be refunded to thousands of companies that previously paid those tariffs.

If you live in Bethlehem, Delmar, Glenmont, Selkirk, Slingerlands, Voorheesville, New Scotland, or the RCS community, you've likely noticed higher prices over the past year on everything from groceries and electronics to home improvement supplies and everyday household items.

While consumers are not receiving refund checks directly, the businesses receiving these payments now face an important decision: What should they do with the money?

Several well-known companies have already shared their plans:

🛒 Amazon says some customers who paid higher prices because of tariffs may receive automatic refunds in certain situations.

🏪 Walmart has indicated it intends to use its refund to help keep prices competitive for shoppers.

🛍️ Costco has also said it plans to use the funds to help offset costs and remain competitive.

🍎 Apple says it will reinvest its refund into U.S. manufacturing and innovation.

🥤 Pepsi says the refund will help offset higher operating and fuel costs.

While large corporations are receiving significant refunds, many smaller businesses say the money helps—but doesn't erase the financial challenges they faced.

Some owners report they had to reduce staffing, postpone expansion plans, or dip into personal savings while absorbing higher costs over the past year.

That's the big question.

Although several retailers have suggested customers could benefit through lower prices or future savings, there is no guarantee that refunds will translate into immediate price reductions. Retail prices are also influenced by:
