⚾🏆 LOCAL STAR SHINES! BCHS & Siena Grad Arlo Marynczak Back Where He Belongs with the ValleyCats! 🐱🔥
A familiar hometown name is making headlines once again! 👏
Bethlehem Central High School and Siena College graduate Arlo Marynczak is back in the starting rotation for the Tri-City ValleyCats—and he's making the most of the opportunity.
After spending the winter competing in Australia, where he helped the Adelaide Giants capture the prestigious Claxton Shield championship, Marynczak returned to the Capital Region ready for another Frontier League season.
Originally transitioning into a relief role this year, the local standout recently moved back into the starting rotation to help strengthen the ValleyCats' pitching staff. The change has already paid off, as he delivered five scoreless innings in a dominant 9-0 victory over the Schaumburg Boomers, helping the ValleyCats earn their first shutout win of the season.
Marynczak's baseball journey has been anything but ordinary. From throwing a no-hitter in his first collegiate start at Siena, to winning a championship overseas, and now returning to his familiar role as a starter, his willingness to adapt and help his team has been a defining part of his career.
Currently 2-0 with a 3.09 ERA, the Bethlehem native is expected to take on a larger workload as the ValleyCats continue their push toward postseason contention.
Congratulations to Arlo on another exciting chapter in an already impressive baseball journey! We’ll be cheering you on all season long! ⚾💙💛

🚦🚂 SAFETY UPGRADES COMING TO VOORHEESVILLE RAILROAD CROSSINGS 🚂🚦

🚦🚂 SAFETY UPGRADES COMING TO VOORHEESVILLE RAILROAD CROSSINGS 🚂🚦
Following recent train-vehicle incidents, major safety improvements are on the way to help make railroad crossings in the Village of Voorheesville safer for everyone.
Village officials say they are working with Albany County and CSX Railroad on a series of upgrades after two separate vehicle-train incidents occurred within just a few hours on May 29.
🚧 Immediate Safety Improvements Include:
✅ New roadway striping at several railroad crossings
✅ Extra-wide pavement edge lines to improve driver guidance
✅ Additional railroad warning signs near crossings
✅ Enhanced traffic control measures, including a traffic signal at one crossing
The roadway enhancements are being completed along:
📍 North Main Street
📍 South Main Street
📍 Foundry Road
📍 Grove Street
🚦 Bigger Upgrades Ahead
Plans are also moving forward to install four-quadrant railroad crossing gates at both the Voorheesville Avenue and Main Street crossings.
Unlike traditional crossing gates, these systems lower gates on both sides of the roadway, making it much more difficult for motorists to drive around them while a train is approaching.
The project is expected to be funded through a New York State grant, with CSX Railroad scheduled to begin construction after final preparations are complete.
🚂 A Continued Focus on Safety
Village officials say the recent incidents have highlighted the importance of improving roadway design and driver awareness. Albany County has already completed new pavement markings, while additional warning signs will soon be installed.
CSX has also confirmed it remains in regular communication with local officials and reports that the railroad crossing warning systems are operating as designed.
🚗 Whether you're a daily commuter or just passing through, always slow down, obey crossing signals, and never attempt to drive around lowered gates.
Stay safe, Bethlehem!

🧩☕ TUESDAY MORNING MATH PUZZLER SOLVED! ☕🧩

🧩☀️ TUESDAY MORNING MATH PUZZLER SOLVED! ☀️🧩
The problem is:
6 ÷ (1 + 2) = ?
✅ Step 1: Solve the parentheses first
According to the Order of Operations (PEMDAS), anything inside parentheses comes first.
1 + 2 = 3
Now the equation becomes:
6 ÷ 3
✅ Step 2: Divide
6 ÷ 3 = 2
🎯 Final Answer: 2
📚 Teaching Tip
Remember the Order of Operations (PEMDAS):
🔹 P – Parentheses
🔹 E – Exponents
🔹 MD – Multiplication & Division (left to right)
🔹 AS – Addition & Subtraction (left to right)
Since the 1 + 2 is inside parentheses, you must calculate it first.
So:
(1 + 2) = 3
6 ÷ 3 = 2
✅ Correct Answer: 2
