Bad news is good business. We never bought in.
Every morning, financial news follows the same script. Headlines panic, coverage catastrophises, and somewhere inside the noise is the story that actually matters โ the one that tells you where the opportunity sits, not just where the fear is pointing.
Most sources have stopped looking. The alarm is easier to sell.
The Daily Upside was created by Wall Street insiders for readers who crave real insight over recycled anxiety. Five minutes of global business and finance, before the noise sets the agenda โ just the facts, context, and analysis your decisions need.
Join 1M readers โ including managing directors and principals at some of Wall Streetโs largest institutions โ who trust The Daily Upside to filter through the chaos.
The upsides are always there. Weโll find them before breakfast.

๐ต๐ฅ NEW REPORT: HOW HEALTHY ARE NEW YORK'S SENIORS? ๐๐

๐ต๐ฅ NEW REPORT: HOW HEALTHY ARE NEW YORK'S SENIORS? ๐๐
A newly released national report is shining a spotlight on the health and well-being of older adults โ and New York ranked 18th in the nation. ๐บ๐ธ
The 2026 America's Health Rankings Senior Report examined 56 different measures affecting older adults, including healthcare access, food security, physical activity, caregiving support, and overall quality of life.
๐ Some encouraging news for New York seniors:
โ
Physical inactivity declined by 21% between 2019 and 2024
โ
Home health care workers increased by 18% between 2022 and 2024
โ
More seniors nationwide are receiving preventive care and cancer screenings
โ
The number of geriatric specialists continues to grow
However, the report also highlighted several growing concerns:
โ ๏ธ Food insecurity among New York seniors increased by 21% between 2022 and 2023
โ ๏ธ Nationwide, 7.4 million adults age 60+ experienced food insecurity in 2023
โ ๏ธ Drug-related deaths among older adults rose by 38%
โ ๏ธ Excessive drinking increased by 10%
โ ๏ธ Suicide rates increased by 4%
Health experts say the report reinforces the importance of looking beyond medical care alone.
๐ฃ๏ธ "We don't just look at clinical measures. We also look at social, economic, and behavioral health," said Dr. Rhonda Randall of UnitedHealthcare. "A really strong correlation between life expectancy and how healthy you'll be is social connectedness."
As New York's population continues to age, the findings may help guide future investments in healthcare services, senior nutrition programs, transportation, caregiving support, and community engagement initiatives.
