FROZEN TREAT RECALL: OUTSHINE & GOOD HUMOR PRODUCTS PULLED FROM MARKET 32/PRICE CHOPPER SHELVES

🚨🍓🍦 FROZEN TREAT RECALL: OUTSHINE & GOOD HUMOR PRODUCTS PULLED FROM MARKET 32/PRICE CHOPPER SHELVES
HEADS UP, SHOPPERS! Before reaching into the freezer for a fruit bar or ice cream treat, you may want to check the package. 👀❄️
Several products from Outshine and Good Humor have been recalled from Market 32 and Price Chopper stores for two different reasons.
🍓 OUTSHINE FRUIT BARS — POSSIBLE GLASS CONTAMINATION
Manufacturer Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream issued a voluntary recall involving several Outshine Fruit Bar products because they may contain foreign material identified as glass.
Affected products listed in the recall include:
🍓 Strawberry
🍉 Watermelon
🍇 Grape
🍊 Tangerine
🍒 Black Cherry
The recall involves certain 6-count, 2.5-ounce packages, along with certain 24-count, 2.5-ounce Outshine Variety Packs.
According to the information provided, no illnesses or injuries had been reported in connection with the recall.
🍫🥜 GOOD HUMOR ICE CREAM BARS — LABELING ISSUE
A separate recall involves two Good Humor products:
🥜 Reese's Crunchy Peanut Ice Cream Bars — 6-pack
🥥 Almond Joy Ice Cream Bars — 6-pack
The Magnum Ice Cream Company issued this recall because of a labeling error involving the nutritional information on the six-pack boxes.
This recall is classified as Class III, meaning consumption is not considered likely to cause adverse health consequences.
🛒 WHAT SHOULD CUSTOMERS DO?
According to Market 32/Price Chopper, customers who purchased affected products can return them to the store for a full refund.
Because recalls generally apply to specific product codes/lots rather than every product carrying the brand name, shoppers should check their packaging against the official recall information before discarding anything.
📲 PLEASE SHARE — recalls like this are worth getting in front of local families who may already have these frozen treats sitting in their freezers. 🍦⚠️

HUDSON-ATHENS LIGHTHOUSE DAMAGE DISPUTE: $50,000 INITIAL ESTIMATE VS. UP TO $3.6 MILLION IN REPAIRS

🚨⚓ HUDSON-ATHENS LIGHTHOUSE DAMAGE DISPUTE: $50,000 INITIAL ESTIMATE VS. UP TO $3.6 MILLION IN REPAIRS 🏛️🌊
HUDSON — New details are raising questions about how the investigation into a 2025 barge strike at the historic Hudson-Athens Lighthouse was handled — and just how much damage the collision actually caused.
According to new reporting from the Times Union, the U.S. Coast Guard closed its investigation after working with an estimated $50,000 in damages. Months later, an engineering assessment commissioned by the lighthouse's preservation organization estimated repairs associated with the damage could range from approximately $1.9 million to $3.6 million.
That enormous difference is now complicating efforts by the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society to obtain compensation from Coeymans-based Carver Companies, whose tugboat was pushing the barges involved in the April 2025 collision.
⚓ WHAT HAPPENED?
According to records from a Greene County Sheriff's Office investigation obtained by the Times Union, damage to the lighthouse was discovered on the morning of April 30, 2025.
The lighthouse's dock had been damaged and a staircase was missing.
Preservation officials subsequently used commercial vessel-tracking information to identify unusual movements by the tugboat Erin Elizabeth near the lighthouse the previous night.
The tugboat's captain later acknowledged to a Coast Guard investigator that one of seven barges being pushed by the tug struck the lighthouse after control was lost amid wind, river current and another barge passing in the opposite direction, according to the report.
The sheriff's investigation also indicates the Coast Guard was not initially notified of the collision by Carver Companies. The tugboat captain reportedly told investigators that he had notified dispatch, but the information did not reach the Coast Guard.
💰 $50,000 OR MILLIONS?
This is where the case becomes particularly complicated.
The Coast Guard reportedly estimated approximately $50,000 in damage and conducted only a preliminary investigation.
The Greene County Sheriff's Office closed its investigation on May 22, 2025, with records indicating that the Coast Guard would take no further action.
But the lighthouse preservation society later commissioned a more extensive engineering evaluation.
That report, received in December, concluded that the collision had significantly worsened existing problems with the lighthouse's foundation and estimated repairs at approximately $1.9 million to $3.6 million.
Preservation officials maintain that determining the full extent of damage to a structure sitting in the middle of the Hudson River required specialized inspections and could not have been known immediately after the collision.
🔎 COAST GUARD DECLINES TO REOPEN INVESTIGATION
The preservation society subsequently provided its engineering findings to the Coast Guard.
However, according to the Times Union, the Coast Guard ultimately determined there was not sufficient justification to reopen the investigation, noting that the possibility of damage on that scale had not been presented during its initial review.
The higher estimate is significant because damage exceeding $200,000 could potentially have resulted in the collision being classified as a serious marine incident, triggering a different investigative process.
Records cited in the report also indicate that evidence of damage beyond the dock had surfaced during the original investigation, including reports of movement among stone blocks making up the lighthouse's base.
⚖️ CARVER DISPUTES HOW MUCH DAMAGE CAME FROM THE STRIKE
Carver Companies has said it cooperated with authorities and remains engaged in discussions concerning the incident.
The company also maintains that the amount of damage directly attributable to the barge collision remains subject to independent engineering review — an important issue because the lighthouse's foundation was already deteriorating before the 2025 collision.
Carver made some repairs shortly after the incident but, according to preservation society representatives, has not agreed to pay for the larger foundation repairs being sought.
🏛️ A HISTORIC LANDMARK ALREADY IN DANGER
Built in the 1870s, the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse has stood in the Hudson River for roughly 150 years.
Even before the collision, its deteriorating underwater foundation had become a major preservation concern. The lighthouse was named one of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places in 2024.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is now developing plans to preserve the foundation, with preservation officials hoping planning can be completed by the end of this year and work can begin in 2027.
For supporters of this historic Hudson River landmark, the biggest concern is time. ⏳🌊
The lighthouse needed significant preservation work before the collision. The unresolved question now is how much additional damage the barge strike caused — and who should ultimately be responsible for paying for it.
👇 What do you think? Should the Coast Guard reconsider the investigation in light of the later engineering report and dramatically higher repair estimate?

FBI SAYS ALLEGED PLOT TARGETING NY STATE CAPITOL WAS STOPPED — WHY THIS HITS CLOSE TO HOME

🚨🏛️ FBI SAYS ALLEGED PLOT TARGETING NY STATE CAPITOL WAS STOPPED — WHY THIS HITS CLOSE TO HOME
ALBANY, NY — A federal terrorism investigation involving an alleged plan to attack the New York State Capitol has a very direct connection to our Bethlehem-area community: it unfolded just a few miles from home.
Federal authorities have charged Jessica Bowie, 35, of Albany, with attempting to provide material support or resources to designated foreign terrorist organizations after investigators say she pledged allegiance to ISIS and developed plans for an attack on the State Capitol.
According to a federal criminal complaint, the investigation involved three undercover FBI informants who communicated and met with Bowie during the alleged planning. Authorities say Bowie discussed targeting the Capitol when elected officials were present and allegedly made multiple visits to the building while developing her plans.
Investigators allege she believed she was obtaining assistance with an explosive device and also purchased materials she thought would be used in its construction. Immediately before her arrest, authorities say she also paid for a handgun, ammunition and what she believed was an operational explosive device.
The explosive device was inert, and the individuals assisting her were working with the FBI.
Bowie was arrested Wednesday and appeared in federal court, where she was ordered to remain in federal custody pending further proceedings.
⚖️ IMPORTANT: These are allegations contained in a federal criminal complaint. Bowie has been charged, not convicted, and is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
🏡 WHY DOES THIS MATTER TO BETHLEHEM?
For Bethlehem residents, this isn't a distant national security story.
The New York State Capitol is only a short drive from Delmar, Slingerlands, Glenmont and other parts of Bethlehem. Many local residents work for New York State, commute into downtown Albany, conduct business there, visit the Capitol and surrounding government buildings, or have family members who do.
An attack in the Capitol district could therefore have affected people from communities throughout the Capital Region — including our own.
The case also demonstrates the role of preventive law enforcement and intelligence work. According to federal authorities, the alleged plot was intercepted before an actual attack could occur.
Officials said the FBI led the investigation with assistance from other law enforcement partners, including New York State Police.
This is also an important moment to remember that allegations involving an extremist organization should not be generalized to a religion or community. The criminal case concerns the alleged actions of one individual and alleged support for a designated terrorist organization.

FRIDAY MORNING
MATH PUZZLER SOLVED!

🧠➗ FRIDAY MORNING MATH PUZZLER — DID YOU GET IT RIGHT? 🤔☕️
Today's puzzler is:
63 ÷ 7 − 9 ÷ 3
At first glance, it may look like you should simply work straight across — and in this case, that's exactly what we'll do. But let's understand why. 👇
🎓 TEACHING SOLUTION
Remember PEMDAS:
P — Parentheses
E — Exponents
M/D — Multiplication & Division, left to right
A/S — Addition & Subtraction, left to right
Our problem has two division operations and one subtraction, so both divisions must be completed before we subtract.
Step 1️⃣:
63 ÷ 7 = 9
Now we have:
9 − 9 ÷ 3
Step 2️⃣:
9 ÷ 3 = 3
Now the problem becomes:
9 − 3
Step 3️⃣:
9 − 3 = 6
✅ FINAL ANSWER: 6 🎉
💡 THE LESSON: Division takes priority over subtraction. When multiplication and division appear together, they have equal priority and are solved from left to right. The same rule applies to addition and subtraction.
😎 Did you get 6 on your first try?
👇 NO CHANGING YOUR ANSWER NOW! 😂 Let us know how you did in the comments.
📚 Math puzzlers aren't just about getting the answer right — they're a fun way to practice the rules and keep those math skills sharp!
