The problem is:
11 - 3 × 2 + 8 = ?
At first glance, many people start solving from left to right:
❌ 11 - 3 = 8
❌ 8 × 2 = 16
❌ 16 + 8 = 24
But that's incorrect because math follows the Order of Operations.
📚 Remember PEMDAS
P = Parentheses
E = Exponents
M = Multiplication & Division (left to right)
A = Addition & Subtraction (left to right)
Step 1: Do the Multiplication First
3 × 2 = 6
Now the problem becomes:
11 - 6 + 8
Step 2: Work Left to Right
11 - 6 = 5
5 + 8 = 13
✅ Correct Answer: 13
Easy Way to Remember
Multiplication and Division are the "VIPs" of math. They always get handled before Addition and Subtraction.
So:
11 - 3 × 2 + 8
