πŸ”πŸ‘ FROM SWIFTY’S TO STACKED: DELMAR FRIENDS OPEN NEW FAMILY BURGER SPOT AT FOUR CORNERS ❀️πŸ”₯

A new locally owned restaurant officially opened this week in Delmar β€” and behind it is a story about friendship, resilience, and community. πŸ‘πŸ”

Stacked Grill, now open at:
πŸ“ 374 Delaware Ave. in Delmar’s Four Corners,
is the first business venture for longtime friends and kitchen managers Chris Stewart and Mike Blendell.

The pair grew up locally, worked together for more than 15 years, and both spent years helping run kitchens at Swifty’s Restaurant & Pub before deciding to take a leap and build something of their own. ❀️

🏑 A local story many can relate to

The journey to opening Stacked Grill wasn’t exactly planned.

After Swifty’s temporarily shut down in December amid tax issues, both Stewart and Blendell unexpectedly found themselves out of work.

Instead of walking away from the restaurant business, they turned the challenge into an opportunity.

πŸ’¬ β€œIt turned out to be a silver lining,” Stewart said.

At the same time, the owners of FoCo Taco at Four Corners were preparing to close β€” creating the perfect opening for the two friends to bring their own vision to Delmar.

πŸ” What’s on the menu?

Stacked Grill is focusing on:
πŸ”₯ Smashburgers
πŸ— Handmade chicken tenders
🍟 Fresh fries & chips

And yes…
πŸ” Single
πŸ”πŸ” Double
πŸ”πŸ”πŸ” Triple
πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ” Quadruple burgers

β€œFor someone who wants to stuff their faces,” Blendell joked. πŸ˜‚

But beyond the burgers, the owners say affordability and community matter most.

πŸ’¬ β€œGoing out to eat with parents and two kids can get expensive fast,” Stewart said.

The goal?
❀️ Create a family-friendly local option with prices that work for local families.

They also emphasized that much of the food will be made fresh in-house whenever possible rather than relying heavily on frozen products.

🏘️ Supporting local business in Delmar

For many Bethlehem residents, locally owned businesses are a huge part of what gives Four Corners its identity and character.

Stacked Grill’s opening comes at an important moment for the Delmar restaurant scene β€” especially as neighboring businesses continue evolving and changing.

The owners are also honoring:
🎁 Former FoCo Taco gift cards
⭐ The previous loyalty program

β€” helping create continuity for customers who supported the prior business.

🍺 Future plans may also include:
🍷 Beer & wine service
πŸ₯‚ Possibly Sunday brunch

depending on customer demand.

❀️ A hometown investment

What makes this story resonate for many locals is that it’s not a corporate chain opening another location.

It’s:
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³ Two longtime local friends
πŸ’Ό Taking a risk on themselves
🏑 Investing back into the community they grew up in

And now, Delmar has another locally owned restaurant ready to serve the neighborhood.

New citizens take the Oath of Allegiance during a naturalization ceremony in the Voorheesville Central School District. (Voorheesville CSD)

It was a powerful and emotional day in Voorheesville as students, educators, families, and community members came together to celebrate one of the most meaningful moments in civic life β€” becoming an American citizen. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

On Thursday, the Voorheesville Central School District hosted a federal naturalization ceremony at the middle/high school performing arts center, where:
πŸ‘ 15 individuals officially took the Oath of Allegiance and became citizens of the United States.

The ceremony was a collaboration between:
πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York
πŸ›‚ Department of Homeland Security
πŸ—³οΈ League of Women Voters
🏫 Voorheesville Central School District

🏑 What made the day especially meaningful was the role students played throughout the ceremony.

Students from grades 7, 11, and 12 attended the event, while younger students helped welcome the new citizens by:
πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Reciting the Pledge of Allegiance
🎢 Singing the National Anthem
πŸͺ Providing homemade baked goods through the middle school baking club

The Greenville American Legion Post 291 Color Guard also presented the colors during the ceremony. πŸŽ–οΈ

❀️ A lesson bigger than the classroom

For many students in attendance, the event offered a firsthand look at:
πŸ—³οΈ Citizenship
🀝 Civic responsibility
πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Democracy in action
❀️ The meaning of community

Superintendent Frank Macri called the ceremony a reflection of the district’s mission to help students become thoughtful and engaged citizens.

πŸ’¬ β€œWatching 15 individuals take the oath was a reminder for all of us, students and adults alike, of the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship,” Macri said.

🏑 Why this matters locally

Moments like these remind communities that schools are about more than academics alone.

They are also places where:
❀️ Civic values are taught
🀝 Communities come together
πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Traditions are honored
🌎 New neighbors are welcomed

For many in attendance, the ceremony was both inspiring and deeply moving β€” not just for the new citizens, but for the students witnessing it as well.

Congratulations to the nation’s newest citizens β€” and thank you to everyone who helped make the ceremony so special. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‘β€οΈ
