CAN SAVE EVEN MORE!

COSTCO - ALBANY NY OPENING THURSDAY AUGUST 6TH 8AM
🛒🎉 COSTCO OPENS NEXT WEEK! HERE'S HOW BETHLEHEM AREA FAMILIES CAN SAVE EVEN MORE! 💰⛽
The countdown is almost over! Costco opens its first Capital Region warehouse on Thursday, August 6, and many families across Bethlehem, Delmar, Glenmont, Selkirk, Slingerlands, Voorheesville, and the RCS community are getting ready to see what all the excitement is about.
If you're planning to join—or already have a membership—there are plenty of ways to stretch your dollars beyond simply buying in bulk.
💡 Smart Ways to Maximize Your Membership
🛒 Compare unit prices. Bigger packages aren't always the best bargain, so check the price per ounce or per item.
⛽ Fill up while you shop. Costco's members-only gas station is often one of the area's lower-priced fuel options.
📱 Download the Costco App. Keep your membership card on your phone, browse current sales, compare gas prices, and check warehouse hours before heading out.
💰 Watch for monthly instant savings. Costco regularly offers automatic discounts—no coupons required.
⭐ Learn the price tags.
• Prices ending in .97 often indicate clearance.
• An asterisk (*) on the sign usually means an item won't be restocked.
🍗 Stretch your grocery budget. Prepared meals and the famous rotisserie chicken can help feed the family for multiple meals.
🥤 Don't forget the Food Court. The iconic hot dog and soda combo remains one of the best values around.
🏷️ Consider Kirkland Signature products. Many shoppers find Costco's private label offers excellent quality at competitive prices.
🎁 Check out discounted gift cards. Members can often save on restaurants, entertainment, and attractions.
👓 Take advantage of additional member services.
Many shoppers don't realize Costco also offers:
✔️ Pharmacy
✔️ Optical services
✔️ Hearing aids
✔️ Tire Center
✔️ Travel discounts
✔️ Insurance programs
✔️ Prescription savings
💳 Think about an Executive Membership. If your household expects to shop there regularly, the annual rewards may offset the higher membership cost.
🏡 Why This Matters for Bethlehem Area Residents
With grocery prices, fuel costs, and household expenses continuing to challenge many families, the arrival of Costco gives local residents another option for saving money without leaving the Capital Region. Whether you're stocking up for a large family, shopping for a small business, or simply looking to cut everyday expenses, knowing how to use your membership wisely can make a noticeable difference over the course of a year.

PARENTS, THIS IS A CONVERSATION EVERY FAMILY SHOULD HAVE!
📱⚠️ PARENTS, THIS IS A CONVERSATION EVERY FAMILY SHOULD HAVE ⚠️❤️
As children across Bethlehem, Delmar, Glenmont, Selkirk, Voorheesville, New Scotland, and the RCS community prepare to head back to school, a new lawsuit is shining a spotlight on an issue many local parents are already concerned about: the impact of social media on young people's mental health.
The families of four teenagers who died by suicide have filed a lawsuit against several of the world's largest social media companies, alleging their platforms were intentionally designed in ways that encouraged excessive use and contributed to serious mental health struggles.
While the allegations will ultimately be decided in court, the case has renewed national conversations about:
📱 Excessive social media use
😴 Sleep deprivation
💙 Anxiety and depression
👨👩👧👦 Online safety for children and teens
⚖️ The responsibility of technology companies
🏡 Why This Matters to Bethlehem Area Families
Social media is part of everyday life for many local students, whether they're in Bethlehem Central, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, Voorheesville, or private schools throughout our community.
Many parents are balancing the benefits of staying connected with growing concerns about:
✔️ Screen time
✔️ Cyberbullying
✔️ Unrealistic social comparisons
✔️ Online predators
✔️ Exposure to harmful content
✔️ The effects social media can have on sleep, emotional well-being, and academic success
Mental health professionals often encourage families to maintain open conversations, establish healthy screen-time habits, and regularly check in with children about their online experiences.
❤️ A Good Reminder for Every Family
Technology can be an incredible tool—but it works best when paired with healthy boundaries, parental involvement, and ongoing communication.
With a new school year just around the corner, now may be a good time for families to review online safety expectations, discuss responsible social media use, and remind children that help is always available if they're struggling.
💬 Parents: What strategies have worked in your household to encourage healthy technology habits while keeping kids connected and safe online?

FAITH, COMMUNITY & LOCAL LEADERSHIP: VOORHEESVILLE HELPS BRING CHRISTIAN MUSIC TO THE CAPITAL REGION!

PEGGY MCQUADE, (l.) Pastoral Associate for Hospitality at St. Matthew’s in Voorheesville, and Dottie Pepper, a former professional golfer and announcer for CBS, have joined forces to bring more Christian music to the Capital Region.
🎶🙏 FAITH, COMMUNITY & LOCAL LEADERSHIP: VOORHEESVILLE HELPS BRING CHRISTIAN MUSIC TO THE CAPITAL REGION! 🌲🎤
A meaningful partnership with strong local roots is helping bring more contemporary Christian music to our region—and it all started right here in the Bethlehem area.
St. Matthew's Church in Voorheesville has joined forces with Dottie Pepper, the Saratoga Springs native, former LPGA champion, and longtime CBS Sports golf broadcaster, to help expand opportunities for Christian concerts across the Capital Region.
Together, they're working with Live Nation to bring nationally recognized Christian artists to venues including Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Springs and SPAC, giving local families more opportunities to experience faith-based music close to home.
🎵 Why This Matters to Bethlehem Area Residents
For many in our community, Christian music is more than entertainment—it's a source of encouragement, hope, inspiration, and fellowship.
Instead of traveling hours to attend major Christian concerts, residents of Bethlehem, Delmar, Glenmont, Selkirk, Slingerlands, Voorheesville, New Scotland, and the RCS community will now have more opportunities to enjoy these performances right here in the Capital Region.
It's another example of how local leadership and community partnerships can create new cultural and family-friendly experiences for everyone.

🧩☕ SATURDAY MORNING MATH PUZZLER SOLVED! ☕🧩

🧠✅ Saturday Morning Math Puzzler Solution!
The expression is:
60 + 8 × 0 + 7 + 5 = ?
Step 1: Follow the Order of Operations (PEMDAS)
Remember:
P – Parentheses
E – Exponents
MD – Multiplication & Division (left to right)
AS – Addition & Subtraction (left to right)
There are no parentheses or exponents, so we multiply first.
Step 2: Multiply
8 × 0 = 0
Now the problem becomes:
60 + 0 + 7 + 5
Step 3: Add from left to right
60 + 0 = 60
60 + 7 = 67
67 + 5 = 72
🎉 Final Answer: 72 ✅
📚 Teaching Tip
A common mistake is forgetting to do the multiplication first. Some people simply add everything in order, but multiplication always comes before addition.
Think of it like this:
➡️ 60 + (8 × 0) + 7 + 5
Since 8 × 0 = 0, the rest is easy!
💬 Did you get 72 on your first try, or did this one trick you? Let us know in the comments! 🧠😊
