The Voorheesville Central School District is inviting the community inside to see the results of major improvements at Voorheesville Elementary School!

The Elementary School Community Construction Showcase will be held Thursday, September 24, from 6–8 PM at the elementary school, 129 Maple Avenue. Residents, families, staff and community partners can take a self-guided tour of the newly renovated spaces.

🏫 Among the improvements visitors will be able to explore are a new cafeteria and community gathering space, outdoor instructional classroom, new arts wing, dedicated social-emotional learning room, centralized administrative and health-services offices, and a more secure vestibule entrance. Air conditioning has also been added to address longstanding temperature problems in the building.

The renovations are part of the district's larger $27.2 million capital project approved by voters in December 2022. That broader project also includes a new transportation facility along with security and energy-efficiency improvements across the district. The district anticipates that approximately 53% of eligible project costs will be reimbursed through New York State building aid.

There’s a new place for women to get stronger in Slingerlands! 💪

On Thursday, Bethlehem Local News attended the ribbon cutting for Her Strength Studio’s second location, now open at 400 Maple Road in Slingerlands. It was great to get a first look at the new space and help welcome another growing local business to our community! 🎀✂️👏

Her Strength Studio specializes in strength training designed specifically for women, with expert programming offered in small groups of eight or fewer participants. The studio’s focus is helping women build strength, confidence and capability in a supportive environment.

And the celebration continues TODAY! 🎉

The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Ravens are building momentum! RCS earned its second consecutive victory Friday night, defeating the La Salle Institute Cadets 21-14 in another strong showing on the gridiron. 🏈👏

The win improves the Ravens to 2-1 on the season after starting the year with a loss and then bouncing back with back-to-back victories.

La Salle battled throughout the game, with Anthony Catricala leading its ground attack with an impressive 144 rushing yards on just 15 carries. The Cadets fall to 1-2.

What a night for the Voorheesville Blackbirds defense! 🏈👏

Voorheesville turned in a dominant defensive performance Friday, shutting out the Mechanicville Red Raiders 21-0 and picking up its second consecutive victory of the season.

Keeping an opponent completely off the scoreboard is no easy accomplishment, and the Blackbirds defense did exactly that while the offense put up three touchdowns worth of points to secure the win. 💪🐦‍⬛

The victory improves Voorheesville to 2-1 on the season and gives the Blackbirds some nice momentum heading into another home matchup.

The Bethlehem Central Eagles came within five points of their first victory of the season Friday night, battling Mohonasen in a close game before falling 32-28.

It was a much more competitive showing for Bethlehem, which stayed within striking distance throughout the matchup and had an opportunity to snap its recent losing streak. In the end, however, the Warriors held on for the four-point victory.

The result moves Bethlehem to 0-3 on the season, while Mohonasen improves to 2-1.

But the Eagles won't have to wait long for another opportunity — and they'll once again have the advantage of playing in front of the home crowd in Delmar! 🦅🙌

Sometimes one goal is all you need! The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Ravens needed extra time Thursday, but a strong defensive effort helped RCS secure a 1-0 shutout victory over La Salle Institute. ⚽👏

The win continues an impressive run for the Ravens against the Cadets. The RCS girls varsity soccer team has now won four straight meetings against La Salle — and hasn't surrendered a goal in any of them! 💪🧱

It looks simple, but the key is remembering the order of operations (PEMDAS).

We have both addition and multiplication. Under PEMDAS, multiplication comes before addition.

Step 1: Multiply first

6 × 5 = 30

Now the expression becomes:

6 + 30

Step 2: Add

6 + 30 = 36

⚠️ Common mistake: Adding 6 + 6 first gives 12, then multiplying by 5 gives 60 — but that changes the order of operations. You would only do that if the original problem were written (6 + 6) × 5.
