The Bethlehem Central School District is preparing for one of the largest facilities improvement projects in its history following voter approval of the district's $60 million capital project. π§‘π€
At the June 3 Board of Education meeting, district officials presented a proposed construction timeline that includes a temporary relocation plan for Elsmere Elementary School students and staff during extensive renovations scheduled for 2027.
π
Proposed Elsmere Relocation Timeline:
π οΈ July 2027 β December 2027
Because Elsmere's nearly 100-year-old building requires extensive classroom renovations, air conditioning upgrades, bathroom improvements, asbestos abatement, boiler replacement, and other major construction work, the district plans to temporarily close the school for approximately six months.
π Where Would Students Go?
πΆ Kindergarten & Connections Program
β‘οΈ Relocated together as Elsmere cohorts to either Eagle Elementary or Slingerlands Elementary
π Grades 1-5
β‘οΈ Relocated together as Elsmere cohorts to a dedicated wing at Bethlehem Middle School
District officials emphasized that students and staff would remain together during the transition to help maintain continuity and minimize disruption.
π¬ Superintendent Jody Monroe stated:
"Elsmere needs the most work of any of the schools. The accelerated construction and relocation plan may have a significant short-term impact for fall 2027, but it is intended to reduce what would be prolonged disruptions over three years."
ποΈ Improvements Planned Across the District
The capital project includes upgrades at:
β
Eagle Elementary
β
Elsmere Elementary
β
Glenmont Elementary
β

β

If you thought breakfast sandwiches couldn't get any bigger, think again! π²
Pretty Alright Breakfast Club in Voorheesville has introduced a brand-new creation called the CRL Cristo to celebrate the launch of Capital Regional Lifestyles β and it looks like a sandwich worthy of its own zip code! π
Created by owner and head chef Dylan Longton, the towering sandwich features:
π French Toast
π§ Swiss Cheese
π₯© Corned Beef
π₯¬ Sauerkraut
π¦ Turkey
π₯« Russian Dressing
β Another layer of sauerkraut!
"It's a double-decker. Triple-decker," Longton joked while showing off the sandwich during a recent patio interview.
The popular Voorheesville eatery has become a destination for food lovers throughout the Capital Region and beyond. According to Longton, visitors have traveled from across the Northeast β and even from Europe β after discovering the restaurant on TikTok! ππ±
One thing that won't be changing anytime soon?
π« No delivery.
π You've got to make the trip yourself.
"I do not deliver. No, you've got to come see me. That's the best part," Longton said.
While the restaurant continues to grow in popularity, Longton says he's happy keeping things local and intimate with the restaurant's 49-seat setup, although he hinted that a food truck could someday be in the cards. π
