I Almost Threw Out My Keurig. It Wasn't Broken.

Every cup from my Keurig started tasting weak, flat, stale — so I unplugged it and stuck it in a closet. Then I learned the dirty secret of grocery store K-Cups: by the time a pod reaches your kitchen, it's usually spent months going from factory to warehouse to truck to shelf. The flavor oils are long gone. Some brands even over-roast to hide it.

The fix wasn't a new machine. It was fresh pods from Angelino's, a family-owned L.A. roastery that roasts, packs, and ships within 3–5 days — straight to your door, from 39¢ a cup. Over 1,000,000 happy customers. 50+ flavors, no subscription required, and 15% off your first order, applied automatically at checkout.

BETHLEHEM TOWN BOARD OPPOSES PROPOSED ALBANY COMMUTER TAX!

🏛️💰 BETHLEHEM TOWN BOARD OPPOSES PROPOSED ALBANY COMMUTER TAX! 🚗📢

BETHLEHEM, NY — October 19, 2026 — A proposal to impose a commuter tax on people working in the City of Albany is drawing opposition from Bethlehem town officials.

Bethlehem Town Board Member Tom Schnurr shared an update with Bethlehem Local News regarding the Town Board's position on the proposal.

🚨 BETHLEHEM OFFICIALS PUSH BACK

According to Schnurr, members of the Bethlehem Town Board are united in opposing the proposed commuter tax, expressing concern that it would place an additional financial burden on Bethlehem residents who commute to Albany for work.

The opposition comes amid discussions about Albany's budget challenges and potential ways to generate additional revenue.

📨 TOWN BOARD SENDS FORMAL LETTER

Schnurr reported that the Town Board has sent a letter outlining its opposition to:

🏛️ Albany Mayor Dorcey Applyrs

🏛️ New York State legislators

The letter communicates Bethlehem officials' concerns about the proposed tax and its potential impact on residents.

📄 READ THE TOWN'S LETTER HERE:

📊 WHY IS BETHLEHEM CONCERNED?

In its October 19 letter, the Town Board highlights several concerns:

🚗 More than 6,000 Bethlehem residents work in Albany, according to the town's 2022 Comprehensive Plan.

💵 The board estimates Bethlehem commuters contribute approximately $15 million to $25 million annually in workday food and beverage purchases at Albany businesses.

🏢 Town officials argue that a commuter tax could encourage some workers and employers to relocate or increase remote work.

👷 The board also raises concerns that employees who must report to work in person could bear a disproportionate share of the tax burden.

🤝 Rather than pursuing a commuter tax, Bethlehem officials are encouraging Albany leaders to work collaboratively with neighboring communities on regional economic challenges. <Cite ref="turn463909view0"/>

💬 WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Should people who live outside Albany but work in the city pay a commuter tax to help support city services?

Or would an additional tax create an unfair burden on workers who already contribute to Albany's economy?

BETHLEHEM TOWN BOARD MEMBER DAVID DeCANCIO SPEAKS OUT AGAINST PROPOSED ALBANY COMMUTER TAX!

🚨💰 BETHLEHEM TOWN BOARD MEMBER DAVID DeCANCIO SPEAKS OUT AGAINST PROPOSED ALBANY COMMUTER TAX! 🚗🏛️

BETHLEHEM, NY — Opposition to a proposed commuter tax in the City of Albany continues to grow, with Bethlehem Town Board Member David R. DeCancio publicly expressing his concerns about the potential financial impact on workers who live outside the city.

📅 Monday, October 19, 2026

🏛️ DeCANCIO TAKES A STAND

In a statement released Monday, DeCancio criticized the Albany Common Council's commuter tax proposal, arguing that individuals should not face additional taxes simply because they travel into Albany for employment.

💵 HIS CENTRAL CONCERN: TAXING PEOPLE FOR GOING TO WORK

DeCancio believes that workers who cross municipal boundaries to earn a living should not be required to pay an additional tax for doing so.

His statement emphasizes that commuting to work should not result in an added financial penalty for employees who already contribute to the regional economy.

🚗 WHAT COULD THIS MEAN FOR BETHLEHEM RESIDENTS?

Many Bethlehem residents commute daily from Delmar, Slingerlands, Glenmont, Selkirk and surrounding communities to jobs in Albany.

If a commuter tax were ultimately adopted, its impact would depend on how the proposal is structured, including which workers would be subject to the tax.

📢 BETHLEHEM OFFICIALS VOICE THEIR OPPOSITION

DeCancio's statement follows opposition expressed by other Bethlehem Town Board members, who have raised concerns about shifting Albany's financial challenges onto workers living in neighboring communities.

The proposal has prompted discussion about how the City of Albany should address its budget needs while considering the economic contributions of commuters.

💬 WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

🚗 Should people who live in Bethlehem but work in Albany be required to pay an additional commuter tax?

💰 Is a commuter tax a reasonable way to help fund city services, or would it place an unfair burden on workers?

🚢🏗️ BIG INVESTMENT IN COEYMANS! $7.9 MILLION PORT EXPANSION TO BRING NEW JOBS & ECONOMIC GROWTH! 💰🎉

COEYMANS, NY — Exciting economic development news for the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk community!

Officials gathered Monday for a groundbreaking ceremony marking the start of a $7.9 million expansion project at the Port of Coeymans, bringing new infrastructure, jobs and international business opportunities to southern Albany County.

The project represents another major investment in one of the Capital Region's growing transportation and logistics hubs.

🏗️ WHAT'S BEING BUILT?

The expansion by Aprojects Americas, an international heavy-cargo transportation company headquartered in Belgium, includes:

🏢 75,000-square-foot logistics and staging facility

🏗️ New 160-ton mobile crane to handle oversized cargo

🚢 Expanded capacity for shipping large equipment and energy-related components

🌎 Improved access to domestic and international transportation networks

The new facility will primarily provide storage and staging space for oversized products awaiting shipment. No manufacturing or assembly operations are planned.

🇺🇸 COEYMANS SERVES AS U.S. HEADQUARTERS

Aprojects established operations at the Coeymans Industrial Park approximately three years ago and has since expanded to occupy more than 100,000 square feet of warehouse space.

The company has designated the Port of Coeymans as its U.S. corporate headquarters, taking advantage of direct Hudson River access and connections to major transportation routes.

💼 NEW JOBS & ECONOMIC BENEFITS

According to project officials, the expansion is expected to generate:

💰 $9.1 million in economic activity

👷 18 new permanent jobs

🏗️ 12 construction jobs during development

The project is being supported by the Advance Albany County Alliance, Albany County Industrial Development Agency and Albany County Business Development Corporation.

Financial assistance includes:

✅ A $1 million loan supporting the purchase of the new crane

✅ A green energy grant of up to $750,000

✅ A Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) agreement

The PILOT agreement is projected to generate approximately $417,640 in payments to local taxing jurisdictions over 11 years, about $254,000 more than the estimated property taxes without the development.

🏭 THE PORT OF COEYMANS CONTINUES TO GROW!

Over the past two decades, the Port of Coeymans and neighboring industrial park have become important economic engines for southern Albany County.

📊 THE NUMBERS TELL THE STORY:

🚢 $250 million in private investment

👷 Approximately 800 direct jobs

🏢 More than 20 businesses operating at the facilities

💵 Approximately $1.4 million annually in property tax revenue

🏫 Nearly $1 million annually supporting the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District

🛍️ More than $500,000 spent with Ravena and Coeymans businesses in 2025

Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy and Advance Albany County Alliance CEO Kevin O'Connor highlighted the expansion as an example of how international investment and local partnerships can strengthen the regional economy.

❤️ WHAT THIS MEANS FOR OUR COMMUNITY

For residents of Coeymans, Ravena, Selkirk and surrounding communities, the expansion represents the potential for additional employment, business activity and investment in the local economy.

The project also reinforces the Port of Coeymans' growing role in connecting the Capital Region to national and international markets.

TUESDAY MORNING MATH PUZZLER SOLVED!

🧠☀️ TUESDAY MORNING MATH PUZZLER — THE ANSWER IS NOT 16! 🔢🤔

Today's challenge is:

12+18\div6=?

Let's solve it together using PEMDAS (the order of operations).

✏️ Simple Step-by-Step Solution

Step 1: Divide FIRST!

Division comes before addition.

18\div6=3

Step 2: Now ADD!

12+3=15

🎯 THE CORRECT ANSWER IS

15 ✅

💡 REMEMBER: Always do multiplication and division before addition and subtraction!

⚠️ Common Mistake: Adding 12 + 18 first gives 30, then dividing by 6 gives 5. That's incorrect because division must come first.

🎉 DID YOU GET 15?
