🌎🏆 BETHLEHEM STUDENTS FINISH 6TH IN THE WORLD! 🎉🧠

What an incredible achievement for Bethlehem Central High School!

A team of seven BCHS students recently traveled to Iowa State University and returned home with a 6th-place finish at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals, placing among the very best teams on the planet! 🌍👏

After capturing the New York State Championship in March, the Eagles earned the opportunity to compete against top teams from across the United States and around the world in one of the largest creativity and problem-solving competitions anywhere.

💡 Their challenge?

Create and perform an original eight-minute skit while also designing and building a structure from balsa wood capable of supporting an incredible amount of weight.

The results were astounding:

⚖️ Structure Weight: Just 14.7 grams
🏋️ Weight Supported: 735 pounds
🌎 World Ranking: 6th Place!

Not only did the team excel in engineering and problem-solving, but every costume, prop, and set piece used in their performance was designed and built entirely by the students themselves, showcasing the creativity, teamwork, and innovation that Odyssey of the Mind is known for.

👏 Congratulations to the BCHS Odyssey of the Mind Team:

⭐ Rayne Beiter
⭐ Jeremy Cintron Ortiz
⭐ Nex Cridlig
⭐ Nicholas Folio
⭐ Bridger Lewis
⭐ Erica Piccolo
⭐ Stephanie Piccolo

A special congratulations also goes to coach Rebecca Beiter, whose countless hours of dedication helped guide the team through a remarkable season. She even personally drove to Iowa towing a trailer filled with costumes, props, sets, and competition supplies to ensure the team had everything needed to compete at the highest level. 🚗💨

🌏 Beyond the competition, the students also participated in Odyssey's Buddy Team Program, forming friendships with students from Hong Kong. Through games, conversations, and shared experiences, they connected with peers from across the globe and represented Bethlehem with pride.

🏡 This achievement is a reminder that some of the world's brightest young minds are right here in our community.

Congratulations on an unforgettable season and an outstanding Top 10 finish on the world stage! 🦅

🌷❤️ A BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE TO A BELOVED TEACHER: BCHS DEDICATES MEMORIAL GARDEN TO MADAME MICHÈLE ATALLAH ❤️🌷

On a heartfelt afternoon filled with memories, gratitude, and community spirit, students, alumni, colleagues, family members, and friends gathered at Bethlehem Central High School to celebrate the dedication of the Madame Michèle Atallah Memorial Garden. 🌿

The newly renovated courtyard, memorial garden, and commemorative bench honor the life and legacy of Madame Atallah, the beloved French teacher who inspired generations of students during her remarkable 37-year career at BCHS before her passing in the fall of 2025.

🇫🇷📚 For nearly four decades, Madame Atallah shared not only the French language and culture, but also kindness, encouragement, and a passion for learning that left a lasting impact on countless students.

The beautiful courtyard transformation was made possible through an outpouring of support from:
❤️ Alumni
❤️ Staff
❤️ Students
❤️ Community members

Special thanks also go to local businesses:
🌳 Young Landscapes
🌼 Staucet’s Landscaping & Nursery

whose generous donations of labor, materials, and expertise helped create a peaceful and inspiring space for future generations of students and staff to enjoy.

A stunning stone pathway and patio now anchor the garden, creating a place for reflection, learning, and remembrance.

The dedication ceremony was especially meaningful as Madame Atallah’s family—including her husband George and children Leila and Tarek—joined the BCHS community for the unveiling. ❤️

A special recognition goes to Class of 2026 seniors Max Kuperman and Claire Aliggayu, who led the student fundraising efforts and worked tirelessly to ensure the garden was completed before their graduation later this month. 👏🌷

This memorial serves as a lasting reminder that great teachers never truly leave us. Their lessons, encouragement, and influence continue to grow through the lives they touched.

Thank you, Madame Atallah, for your beauty, inspiration, and the countless lives you changed. Your legacy will forever bloom at Bethlehem Central High School. 🌹🇫🇷❤️
