BETHLEHEM, NY — The Bethlehem Central School District is increasing its security presence at schools this week following the arrest of a former district employee on school property Friday afternoon.

Superintendent Jody Monroe issued an important message to parents and guardians outlining the incident and the additional security measures being implemented in coordination with the Bethlehem Police Department.

🚨🏫 BETHLEHEM POLICE RELEASE NEW DETAILS ON ARREST AT BETHLEHEM CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL

BETHLEHEM, NY — The Town of Bethlehem Police Department has released additional information regarding the arrest of a 65-year-old Selkirk man at Bethlehem Central High School on Friday, October 16th.

According to the official police news release, the individual was arrested for allegedly violating a court order prohibiting him from entering any Bethlehem Central School District property.

🚔 WHAT HAPPENED?

📅 Friday, October 16, 2026

🕔 Approximately 4:58 PM

📍 Bethlehem Central High School parking lot, Delmar

Bethlehem Police officers were investigating a complaint involving an erratic driver in the high school parking lot when they were approached by Thomas J. Fris, 65, of Selkirk.

According to police, Fris informed officers that he was trespassing on school property.

When officers attempted to investigate further, police reported that he became uncooperative and was detained.

A subsequent investigation determined that Fris was allegedly on school property in violation of an existing court order.

⚖️ THREE MISDEMEANOR CHARGES FILED

Fris was charged with:

🔹 Obstructing Governmental Administration

🔹 Criminal Trespass

🔹 Criminal Contempt

All three charges are misdemeanors.

Police reported that Fris was processed and released with instructions to appear in Town of Bethlehem Court on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

The charges are allegations, and Fris is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

According to the Bethlehem Police Department, the court order prohibiting Fris from entering district property originated from an earlier incident involving multiple harassing telephone calls to Bethlehem Central School District offices.

MECHANICVILLE, NY — The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Girls Varsity Soccer Team came up short Sunday, October 18th, falling to the Mechanicville Red Raiders by a score of 4-1.

After an impressive 8-1 win over Ichabod Crane on Thursday, the Lady Ravens faced a tough road challenge against a strong Mechanicville squad.

The Red Raiders built a 3-0 halftime lead, and RCS was unable to overcome the deficit in the second half.

🏆 FINAL SCORE:

💚💛 RCS RAVENS — 1
⚽ MECHANICVILLE RED RAIDERS — 4

📊 RAVENS' SEASON UPDATE:

The loss snapped RCS's three-game winning streak and leaves the Lady Ravens with a 9-6-1 overall record.
