BETHLEHEM, NY — If you or your children ride an electric bicycle or electric scooter, you'll want to know about new regulations approved by the Albany County Legislature!
On October 13, 2026, county lawmakers passed a new local law establishing additional safety requirements and restrictions for e-bikes and e-scooters.
📅 WHEN DOES THE LAW TAKE EFFECT?
The legislation is scheduled to take effect November 12, 2026 — 30 days after passage.
🚲 HERE'S WHAT RIDERS NEED TO KNOW!
⛑️ HELMETS REQUIRED!
All e-bike and e-scooter riders and passengers must wear safety helmets under the new county law.
🚫 RESTRICTIONS ON COUNTY-OWNED ROADS & SIDEWALKS!
The law prohibits operating e-bikes and e-scooters on county-owned highways, streets and sidewalks.
✅ IMPORTANT EXCEPTIONS:
County-owned parking areas and the Albany Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail are exempt from this particular prohibition.
⚠️ RECKLESS RIDING IS PROHIBITED!
Dangerous activities such as weaving between vehicles, performing stunts, racing or otherwise putting others at risk are prohibited.
🍺🚫 NO RIDING UNDER THE INFLUENCE!
Operating an e-bike or e-scooter while impaired by alcohol or drugs is prohibited.
The law identifies a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or higher as a violation.
💰 PENALTIES CAN BE SERIOUS!
Depending on the number of violations, penalties may include:
💵 Fines up to $750
⚖️ Up to 30 days in jail
🚲 Possible impoundment of an e-bike
🔞 MINIMUM AGE: 16
Under New York State law, riders must be at least 16 years old to operate an electric bicycle or electric scooter.
🏡 WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR BETHLEHEM AREA RESIDENTS?
Whether you're riding around Delmar, Glenmont, Slingerlands or Selkirk, it's important to understand which roads and sidewalks are county-owned and where the new restrictions apply.
🚴 The Albany Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail remains exempt from the new county-road prohibition, although applicable trail safety rules still apply.
Parents should also make sure younger riders understand the age restrictions, helmet requirements and rules for safe operation.
County legislators say the new regulations are intended to improve safety for riders, motorists and pedestrians.
📋 READ THE COUNTY LEGISLATION:
💬 BETHLEHEM — WHAT DO YOU THINK?
🚲 Do you support mandatory helmets for all e-bike and e-scooter riders?
🛴 Should electric bikes and scooters be allowed on county-owned roads and sidewalks?
⚠️ Will these new rules improve safety in our communities?

📱🤖🚀 GOOGLE JUST MADE IT EASIER TO BUILD YOUR OWN APPS — NO PROGRAMMING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! AND THEY CAN STAY PRIVATE! 💡
BETHLEHEM, NY — Imagine creating your own smartphone app without knowing how to write computer code — and using it on your Android phone without ever publishing it for the world to see!
Thanks to a new Google Play feature, that possibility is becoming a reality! 🎉
Google announced on October 13 that Android users can now create personal applications using artificial intelligence and run them privately on their own devices.
The technology is part of a growing trend called VIBE CODING! 🤖
💡 WHAT IS VIBE CODING?
Instead of writing complicated programming code, users describe what they want an app to do, and AI helps build it!
For example, imagine creating:
📅 A Family Organizer — Track schedules, appointments and activities.
🏈 A Youth Sports App — Manage team schedules, scores and reminders.
🛒 A Shopping List App — Organize groceries and household needs.
💰 A Personal Budget Tracker — Keep track of expenses.
🌱 A Gardening App — Track planting dates and garden projects.
🐶 A Pet Care App — Organize feeding schedules and veterinary appointments.
The possibilities are limited largely by your imagination — and what the AI tools can successfully build!
🔒 YOUR APP CAN REMAIN PRIVATE!
Here's what makes Google's announcement interesting:
✅ Create an app using Google AI Studio.
✅ Run it on your own Android smartphone through Google Play.
✅ Use your regular Google account.
✅ Keep the app out of public Google Play searches and listings.
✅ Experiment without publishing your creation for everyone to download.
Personal apps must still comply with Google Play's policies.
🇺🇸 WHO CAN USE IT?
The feature is initially available to U.S. users ages 18 and older.
👨👩👧👦 COMING SOON: SHARE WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY!
Google says future updates will allow users to share their AI-created apps with a trusted circle of people.
Imagine building an app for your neighborhood group, local club or child's sports team without having to release it publicly!
Google also plans to provide a path for creators who eventually want to publish their apps for everyone.
🎮 GOOGLE PLAY IS GETTING MORE AI FEATURES, TOO!
Additional changes include:
🎯 Game Finder — Personalized gaming recommendations powered by AI.
💬 Community Posts — A place to ask questions about games.
🏆 Gaming Sprints — New 48-hour gaming challenges.
🤖 Ask Play — Improved AI assistance for comparing apps.
👨👩👧 Age-Appropriate Experiences — A feature allowing parents to share a child's age range rather than an exact birthdate with developers.
🌎 WHAT COULD THIS MEAN FOR OUR BETHLEHEM COMMUNITY?
Think about the possibilities for local residents, small businesses, volunteer organizations, schools and community groups!
A customized app that once required a professional developer could become much easier for everyday people to experiment with.
Of course, AI-generated apps still need testing, and users should be careful about privacy and security when handling personal information.
💬 NOW WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
📱 IF YOU COULD CREATE YOUR OWN APP, WHAT WOULD IT DO?
Would you build something for your family, your business, your neighborhood or just for fun?
👇 SHARE YOUR IDEAS IN THE COMMENTS! You might inspire someone else's next big idea! 💡
📢 PLEASE SHARE with your tech-loving friends, students, entrepreneurs and anyone curious about AI!

SUNDAY MORNING MATH PUZZLER SOLVED!
🧠☕ SUNDAY MORNING MATH PUZZLER — HERE'S THE ANSWER!
The problem:
4 × 2 + 5 × 2 = ?
Step 1: Follow the order of operations (PEMDAS). Multiply first!
4 × 2 = 8
5 × 2 = 10
Step 2: Now add the results.
8 + 10 = 18
✅ FINAL ANSWER: 18
💡 Remember: Multiplication comes before addition!
⚠️ Don't confuse 5 with 5! The exclamation mark in the picture is punctuation, not part of the math problem. If it were written as a factorial, 5! would equal 120.
🧠 Did you get 18? Let us know in the comments!
