🍕🎉 ANTHONY'S BY ROMO'S IS EXPANDING IN VOORHEESVILLE! 🚀🏡

Big news for pizza lovers! 🍕❤️ One of Voorheesville's most popular restaurants is getting ready to grow.

Anthony's by Romo's Pizza has announced plans to open a second location in the Hannaford Plaza at 5 Maple Road in Voorheesville, with an opening targeted for August 2026. The new restaurant will occupy the space previously home to Brick House Pizza.

The expansion comes after overwhelming support from the community. Since opening its flagship Voorheesville restaurant in early 2025, demand for takeout and delivery has outgrown what the current location can comfortably handle.

🍕 What to Expect

A menu similar to the original Romo's Pizzeria & Restaurant in Glenmont
🥪 Lunch service
🚗 Expanded takeout and delivery
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Space to accommodate youth sports teams and group gatherings
🍽️ More room for dine-in guests at the current Anthony's by Romo's location

The name of the new restaurant has not yet been finalized, but the owner has indicated it may be something along the lines of "Romo's To Go."

This marks another exciting addition to Voorheesville's growing dining scene and gives local residents even more options to enjoy one of the area's favorite pizza destinations.

👏 Congratulations to Anthony Berghela and the entire Anthony's by Romo's team on another exciting milestone!

Will you be checking out the new location when it opens? 🍕👇

🚨🛒 GLENMONT WALMART THEFT LEADS TO FELONY ARREST AFTER TRAFFIC STOP 🚔

A reported shoplifting incident at the Walmart on Route 9W in Glenmont led to a felony arrest after Bethlehem Police stopped a pickup truck leaving the area late on the evening of June 28.

According to police, officers responded to a report of a larceny in progress around 9:13 p.m. When they arrived, the suspect had already left the store in a pickup truck. Officers located the vehicle near the South Pearl Street entrance to Interstate 787 and conducted a traffic stop.

Investigators say merchandise believed to have been taken from Walmart was found in the truck. Store employees identified one of the occupants as the individual involved in the alleged theft.

Police charged Mohamed Koroma, 29, of Albany, with:
🔹 Felony burglary
🔹 Petit larceny
🔹 Conspiracy

Authorities said the burglary charge was filed because Koroma had previously been banned from entering Walmart.

The driver, William Day, 57, of Guilderland, was charged with:
🔹 Conspiracy

Police also reported finding a small quantity of suspected crack cocaine and three glass pipes during the investigation.

Previous Incident in Colonie

According to the report, Koroma had also been arrested just one week earlier after allegedly attempting to steal merchandise from a Target store in Colonie. Police say he fled into a nearby swamp while trying to avoid arrest before eventually being taken into custody and transported to Albany Medical Center for evaluation.

Court records referenced in the report indicate Koroma also had outstanding legal matters, including previous larceny-related charges, felony warrants, and bail jumping allegations.

Following arraignment:
⚖️ Day was released on his own recognizance.
⚖️ Koroma was remanded to the Albany County Jail, where he remained in custody as of July 5, according to jail records.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

🍽️🏡 A NEW CHAPTER FOR BLACKBIRDS IN VOORHEESVILLE! 🐦
A well-known gathering place in the heart of Voorheesville is preparing for its next chapter.

Blackbirds Tavern and Blackbirds Bike Café are set to transition to new ownership just two years after opening as part of an effort to help revitalize the village's downtown.

The good news for customers is that Blackbirds Tavern remains open and operating as usual under Druthers Brewing, while plans move forward for the sale of the property. Druthers currently operates the tavern under a long-term management agreement.

Source: Blackbirds Bike Cafe

The Blackbirds Bike Café, which closed earlier this year, is reportedly under consideration for a private sale that is expected to be finalized this summer.

🏘️ A Vision That Helped Transform Downtown

The businesses were created by philanthropists Ed and Lisa Mitzen through their Business for Good initiative with the goal of bringing new energy and investment to downtown Voorheesville.

During its operation, the Bike Café also gave back to the community by donating more than $30,000 to local organizations, including school booster clubs, youth sports teams, and community events.

According to the owners, their original goal was never to operate restaurants long-term, but rather to help spark investment and community growth before passing the businesses on to new owners.

🍴 What's Next?

🏠 Blackbirds Tavern will continue serving guests while the property is marketed for sale.
🚲 The Bike Café could soon have a new owner.
🌟 The hope is that both locations will continue contributing to Voorheesville's vibrant downtown for years to come.

💬 What would you like to see for the future of Blackbirds? Are you hoping the new owners keep the same concept, or would you like to see something different? Share your thoughts below!

🧩☕ WEDNESDAY MORNING MATH PUZZLER SOLVED! ☕🧩

Credit: Aloha Ocean

🎯 Wednesday Morning Math Puzzler Solution! 🧠✖️

The problem is:

9 − 3 × 2 + 12 ÷ 4 = ?

Step 1: Follow the Order of Operations (PEMDAS/BODMAS)

Remember:

1️⃣ Parentheses
2️⃣ Exponents
3️⃣ Multiplication & Division (left to right)
4️⃣ Addition & Subtraction (left to right)

There are no parentheses or exponents, so start with multiplication and division.

3 × 2 = 6

12 ÷ 4 = 3

Now the equation becomes:

9 − 6 + 3

Step 2: Work from left to right

9 − 6 = 3

3 + 3 = 6

Correct Answer: 6 🎉

🧠 Why do people get it wrong?

A common mistake is to add or subtract before doing the multiplication and division.

For example:

9 − 3 = 6
6 × 2 = 12
12 + 12 ÷ 4 = 15

This ignores the order of operations.

📚 Teaching Tip

Whenever you see addition/subtraction mixed with multiplication/division, always:

Do all multiplication and division first, working left to right.

Then finish with addition and subtraction, also left to right.

⭐ Quick Memory Trick

PEMDAS

  • P = Parentheses

  • E = Exponents

  • MD = Multiplication & Division (left to right)

  • AS = Addition & Subtraction (left to right)

👏 Final Answer: 6
